Helldivers 2 Devs Are ‘Looking Into’ GameGuard Anti-Cheat

The CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios has stated that they will be ‘looking into’ GameGuard Anti-Cheat for Helldivers 2.

Helldivers 2 has been suffering from significant performance issues of late, and the developers have been slowly addressing them. Recently, the developers also addressed the game’s large PC installation size and load times. Now, it seems GameGuard Anti-Cheat will be investigated as well.

Helldivers 2 Devs Will Tackle GameGuard Anti-Cheat After The Next Patch

Spotted by Gamerant, Arrowhead’s CEO, Shams Jorjani, has recently been answering questions about GameGuard in Helldivers 2 on the game’s official Discord. Several players are adamant that many of the game’s performance problems could be attributed to this anti-cheat software. However, Jorjani initially responded, stating, “I’ve answered this a bajillion times. we see no evidence of it having performance impact. will investigate more.”

Then, yesterday, the CEO was again asked whether there were any alternatives to GameGuard, as the service “has a history of hefty performance impact on other games.” Jorjani replied that he had heard what the players were saying and was already “looking into it”. For now, they are concentrating on getting the upcoming patch out and will then “tackle this other hydra head.”

Many players also asked about the need for a kernel-level anti-cheat in a PvE title, to which the CEO responded that cheaters can “ruin sessions for other players” and that they receive reports about such players “all the time.”

In other news, Arrowhead Game Studios is working on a new game. Additionally, there are no plans for a sequel to the co-op third-person shooter. Do you think GameGuard Anti-Cheat is impacting Helldivers 2’s performance? Let us know through the official Insider Gaming Discord.
