10 Years Later, GTA Online Is Getting Wildlife

It’s not something we predicted would happen after more than ten years of GTA Online, but here we are. In the latest Rockstar Newswire, it was revealed that wildlife (yes, animals) will be making a grand appearance in GTA Online – on consoles only – in the December update. There are plenty of new bits and pieces being added in this sizeable update, including new money-making opportunities, a festive event, and drift races, but the addition of wildlife seems to be the most surprising thing that’s coming.

Time To Go Hunting

In GTA 5, which was released way back in 2013, there was plenty of wildlife to be glimpsed across the open world of San Andreas. There were cats, dogs, deer, wildcats, birds, fish, and all manner of creatures that helped make it feel like a living, breathing world. When GTA Online was released around a month after the launch of the base game, we quickly found that Rockstar had stripped animals from the multiplayer offering.

Now, ten years later, those animals are being added to GTA Online – but there’s a catch.

They’re only being added to the version of the game on the current generation of consoles – the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X|S. Here’s what Rockstar said in the Newswire post:

Animals come to the world of GTA Online for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, along with additional improvements specifically for players on the latest consoles.

So, if you’re looking for a new activity in GTA Online, perhaps you can take a rifle and go hunting deer in the wilds of San Andreas or something. It’s a random thing to add, but it’s welcome enough for those still in love with GTA Online all these years later.
