GTA 5 Unofficial RageMP Mod Ordered to Shut Down by Take-Two

Take-Two has sent a cease-and-desist to the GTA 5 RageMP mod, with the platform shutting down operations in August 2026.

In August 2023, Rockstar announced the acquisition of Cfx.re, making FiveM and RedM roleplaying communities an official part of the business. Since FiveM has become the only authorized platform for GTA 5 multiplayer modding, Take-Two has decided that it is time to do something about RageMP.

GTA 5’s RageMP Will Stop Operating from August 2026

A new announcement on the RageMP website has revealed that the GTA 5 multiplayer modding platform will cease to exist on August 31, 2026. The post reveals that the shutdown is due to a cease-and-desist served by Take-Two, as FiveM has become the official platform for GTA 5 multiplayer modding.

RageMP’s shutdown will be handled in phases. The first phase, which starts immediately, is to stop the creation of new community servers and discontinue access to the RageMP server toolkit. The server owners have been advised to migrate their servers to FiveM and will receive support from the platform during the migration.

The second phase starts on June 1, 2026, when the public server listing will be shut down and no longer accessible. Server managers will need to log in before this date to ensure their servers are functional.

The last phase of GTA 5’s RageMP shutdown will occur on August 31, 2026. The platform will no longer be supported after this date, and community servers will also have to cease operation on this day. Moreover, RageMP’s game client and server toolkit will no longer be available or supported. Also, their backend infrastructure will be shut down.

In other news, FiveM has released a new tool called Alchemist, which lets users convert GTA 5 Legacy mods for the Enhanced Edition. Additionally, GTA 6 RP mechanics and a user-generated content ecosystem could be coming much sooner than we thought, a job listing has suggested.
