Sony held its CES 2023 keynote presentation on Wednesday night, and with it came the announcement of both Gran Turismo 7 and Beat Saber coming to PSVR 2.
The announcement came via President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment Jim Ryan, who also stated that “over 30 games” were in development for the headset’s launch window.
The Gran Turismo 7 launch will be via a free update for PSVR 2 owners of the game when the headset becomes available. No date was given for the launch of Beat Saber.
Gran Turismo 7 launched to mostly positive critical reviews in March 2022. There were a number of complaints about the changes in microtransactions upon the game’s public launch. However, it appears that a number of players have mostly forgiven Sony for the gaffe as the game remains popular nearly a year after launch.
Beat Saber has been one of the most popular VR games since its launch in 2019. While it’s available for the original PSVR, PSVR 2 isn’t backward compatible with PSVR 1 titles. Thus making a new release necessary to play on the newer hardware.
PSVR 2 launches on February 22, 2023. Retailing for $549.99, it includes the headset, sense controllers, and stereo headphones. Those interested can also purchase a separate charging station for the headset, allowing the PSVR 2 Sense controllers to be charged without taking up the PS5’s USB ports. That will retail for $49.99.
