A new casting for the God of War live-action series has been revealed, and this time it’s for one of the prominent characters in the games, Freya.
Amazon Prime Video’s God of War live-action series seems to be progressing well, with the team revealing tons of new castings as well as the first look at Kratos and Atreus in costume. Now, another prominent character has been cast, and fans will remember her from the ‘Lost’ series.
Sonya Walger Will Play Freya in God of War Live Action
According to a report by Variety, Sonya Walger, known for her roles in ABC’s “Lost” and Apple TV’s “For All Mankind,” has recently been cast as Freya in the live-action adaptation of “God of War.” Below is the official description of the character for fans to read:
“A Vanir goddess and princess who practices powerful, ancient magic. She is also Odin’s (Patinkin) ex-wife and the former Queen of the Valkyries in Asgard, a title bestowed upon her on her marriage day. She is strong, insightful, and filled with regrets. When Freya’s unhappy marriage to Odin ended with her being exiled, she was cut off from her family, as well as her native land, Vanaheim. Freya has lived alone in Midgard for a century, a recluse in a hidden glade, feared by humans, and often referred to as the Witch of the Woods.”
Freya is a character introduced early in both God of War (2018) and Ragnarok. She remains significant throughout the story and plays a key role in the overall plot. Freya has her own reasons for opposing the Norse mythos, and fortunately, her goals align with those of Kratos and Atreus. However, the trio experiences several challenges along the way, which I won’t spoil for you if you haven’t played the latest game.
In other news, it has been claimed that a new God of War game with a fresh lead could be revealed later this year, stepping away from Kratos. Additionally, a God of War Ragnarok dataminer has seemingly found the link to the next game with references to Athena and Egypt.
