Ghost of Yotei’s Shamisen Will Also Act as a ‘Navigation Tool’

New details about Ghost of Yotei’s Shamisen have been revealed, and it seems it will act as a ‘navigation tool’ too.

Ghost of Yotei, the Sucker Punch to the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, is finally releasing on October 2, 2025. Ahead of the release, we continue to learn new details about the game through developer interviews. Most recently, we learned that it would have a similar amount of content to Tsushima. We have now received new details about Yotei’s Shamisen.

Ghost of Yotei’s Shamisen Will Guide Players to ‘Certain Types of Things’

During an interview with IGN, creative director Jason Connell opened up about Ghost of Yotei’s Shamisen. Towards the end of the interview, Connell stated that he wants to reveal something that hasn’t been “talked about much”: Atsu’s shamisen, an instrument the protagonist carries. Connell adds that in Ghost of Tsushima, they had features in the game like the ‘Traveler’s Attire’, which would help players find content nearby. It was almost like “a completion tool or a navigation tool in order to get through the world.”

Ghost of Yotei’s shamisen will work in a similar fashion; players will be able to learn new songs in the open world, and these songs will guide them to “certain types of things”. For example, ‘The Song of Vanity’ may guide players to cosmetics. The developers are excited to showcase this feature to players and let them experience it firsthand once the game is released.

In other news, Ghost of Yotei has replaced its stance system with a system that allows multiple weapons. Also, check out the limited edition PS5 consoles and accessories themed around Sucker Punch’s upcoming title. What are your thoughts on Ghost of Yotei’s Shamisen being a ‘navigation tool’?
