Star Wars Galactic Racer Beats The Empire Strikes Back

While Star Wars’ first outing in all media, 1977’s A New Hope, scores higher than Galactic Racer, with a Metacritic score of 90, the other original films don’t. Notably, even the classic movie Star Wars Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back has a Metacritic score of 82. Return of the Jedi, which rounds out the original Star Wars trilogy, has a Metacritic score of 58.
In the video game realm, 2003’s Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has the franchise’s highest Metacritic score, at 94. Other notable successes include the recently released Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. That 2023 game is sitting at an 85 on Metacritic.
Star Wars: Battlefront, the original 2004 release, has only an 80 on Metacritic. Its sequel has an 83. The games with the same title released a decade later score even lower. 2015 Star Wars Battlefront has a Metacritic score of 73, and its sequel scores 68.
In television, the highest-rated Star Wars release is also from this year. “Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi,” a limited series first released in August 2026, has a Metacritic score of 83.
