JD Gaming have kept their hopes of attending the League of Legends World Championship 2026 alive after defeating Team WE.
The LPL Regional Finals match finished 3-1 in JDG’s favor with botlaner Chen ‘GALA’ Wei playing a starring role.
WE will now compete in the new Demacia Cup Global Invitational with other international teams that failed to qualify for Worlds.
Meanwhile, JDG will face Invictus Gaming in a do-or-die best-of-five to decide the LPL’s fourth and final Worlds 2026 representative.
GALA Pops Off Against WE
Throughout the four-game series, GALA didn’t die a single time. Even in JDG’s loss in Game 1, GALA stayed safe and finished with a K/DA of 2/0/2.
A 6/0/8 game on Xayah and then a ridiculous 15/0/5 game on Jinx made sure that JDG LPL Lower Bracket Final.
And he ended the game in style with a pentakill on Jinx, partially thanks to his teammates willing diving into the fountain.
This was the 14th penta of GALA’s career, putting him comfortably second in the all-time LoL pentakill statistics.
However, he is still pretty far from catching up to T1 Kim ‘Peyz’ Su-hwan’s pentakill record, which has now reached 17.
JDG vs IG Preview
JDG and IG’s season-defining series, the last LPL game of 2026, will take place tomorrow, September 19, at 5:00 am EDT.
It should be a close series, though IG are slight favourites at 58% according to Polymarket users.
The winner will join Top Esports, Bilibili Gaming, and LPL champions Anyone’s Legend in qualifying for Worlds 2026.
JDG and IG haven’t met this split, considering IG had to crawl up from Group Nirvana.
Though IG’s fortunes have changed after legendary toplaner Kang ‘TheShy’ Seung-lok returned to pro play after resting for most of the year.
