G2 Head Coach Luka ‘Perkz’ Perković has posted a lengthy and controversial statement surrounding his personal beliefs and convictions on social media.
The statement came as online discourse surrounding Perkz’s character ramped up after G2 suffered a disappointing 1-3 Swiss Stage elimination at Worlds 2026.
The G2 League of Legends roster is currently the subject of several rumors regarding potential roster changes, with French Jungler Rudy ‘SkewMond’ Semaan reportedly set to leave, making way for Vitality’s Linas ‘Lyncas’ Nauncikas.
Perkz claims he joined a “broken and dysfunctional” G2
The G2 Head Coach since July, Perkz stepped into the role after the sudden sacking of long-term G2 HC Dylan Falco, who had led G2 to the Grand Final of First Stand earlier in the year.
Perkz had joined G2, initially as a positional coach for the roster before Falco’s removal, and took over the role of Head Coach after MSI, with his first tournament in charge being the Esports World Cup 2026.
After an early elimination at EWC, G2 went on to win the LEC Summer 2026 split before exciting Worlds 1-3 in the Swiss Stage after a 0-2 elimination to Hanwha Life Esports.
As part of Perkz’ statement, he stated:
There are so many narratives that will go on and be created in the offseason, you can believe what you want to believe. The truth is I came into a broken and dysfunctional team, with a lot of trauma and trust issues, and did my best I could to help everyone, without ever creating any distress or hate between the players and staff, but rather being someone who will address those issues, problem solve how to overcome our challenges and in the end making a team a place where the players can call their players brothers.
Worlds elimination saw the roster complete its second full year of competition, with the core of Rasmus ‘Caps’ Borregaard Winther, Sergen ‘BrokenBlade’ Çelik, and Steven ‘Hans Sama’ Liv also playing the 2023 season together.
Rumors surrounding the team suggest that BrokenBlade may end his time in G2 when his contract ends following the end of Worlds, with Skewmond also potentially leaving despite having two years remaining on his contract. Lampros ‘Labrov’ Papoutsakis’s G2 contract also runs out in November, however, there is no immediate indication of his departure.
Perkz distances himself from Tate Brothers and ocelote
As part of the statement, Perkz distanced himself from controversial right-wing ‘manosphere’ content creators Andrew and Tristan Tate.
I don’t like, support, or stand with [the] Tates. I hate most of the things they say (besides guys go to gym or do exercise!! Good tip), dislike their views of life, they are just fake and also bought by the same matrix they are”escaping” =), hypocritical behaviours and statements, wrongful teachings to younglings about women. And many more things that really disgusted me about them.
As part of the statement, Perkz also distanced himself from his historic relationship with G2 founder Carlos ‘ocelote’ Rodríguez Santiago, who controversially posted a video in 2022 of himself partying with Andrew Tate.
Perkz initially shared appreciation for ocelote, sharing, “Carlos believed in me when nobody else did” due to problems in his family life. However, he later stated that the pair had fallen out over Perkz’ G2 exit, sharing,
He was a good mentor to me and the friendship/ mentorship was what mattered a lot to me, even though I hated for the way he behaved when I was getting kicked of G2, not showing up on a call, ghosting me for 3 days straight, and being such a f**king p*ssy, but I get it now that he did it because he was a coward and did not have the strength in him to at the very least talk to me himself.
Carlos and I have gone both completely different ways. He is his own person and I’m completely my own. In the end Carlos’ ego is something that put an end to his esports career which was fucking insane. So there is a lesson to be learned in there as well. We have a lot of different views on life.
Perkz draws criticism for comments on abortion and politics
Following those statements, Perkz clarified his own belief in a series of statements that have drawn controversy. The G2 Head Coach emphasized his lack of knowledge and awareness of politics, before sharing his own beliefs on abortion:
I don’t really do politics, nor have I even ever voted once in my life. I do have opinions and I wish I was more educated on the topic, but the truth is I’m not so I stay away from it.
There are some things I stand for, very simple things in life, but the only thing that is unshakeable for me how its so widely accepted in public is abortion, I cannot comprehend how people do not understand that is a muder, as life is created at conception. That is one view I will die by and never change.
Perkz went on to distance himself from support for Trump, Kamala Harris, Putin, or the “genocide happening in Palestine,” before concluding, “Nor do I know or have any more knowledge on the topic.”
The contents of this section of the statement drew criticism from several members of the League of Legends community, including French Valorant and EWC Stage host Lou ‘Loupiote’ Henguelle.
