G2 Esports Partner With McDonald’s For G2 Hel and G2 NORD LoL Teams

G2 Esports has announced a partnership with the German subsidiary of the American fast-food chain McDonald’s.

This new sponsorship will support the organisation’s tier-2 League of Legends teams outside of the LEC

The deal will see McDonald’s Germany become the presenting partner of G2’s LoL academy team and Prime League Winter runners-up, G2 NORD.

And McDonald’s will also sponsor the new iteration of G2’s women’s LoL team and former Game Changers finalists, G2 Hel.

The restaurant chain will support the production of a year-long content series following the G2 NORD team behind-the-scenes with German content creator Niklot ‘Tolkin’ Stüber.

G2 Hel Return

G2 Esports claim this new sponsorship has enabled the organisation to bring back the G2 Hel women’s team.

The new line-up has now been confirmed after reports that G2 Hel were returning with a new roster.

Marta ‘Shiina’ Mesas Garrido and Maya ‘Caltys’ Henckel are the only returning players from the old roster, with the latter roleswapping from ADC to mid.

G2 Hel disbanded at the end of 2025, reportedly due to financial constraints, despite a very impressive year.

The team became the first women’s team to qualify for the second tier of a European Regional League, having earned promotion into Spain’s Liga Nexo.

G2 Hel also reached the LoL Game Changers Rising finals, Riot’s first official LoL tournament for women and marginalised genders.

However, the team was surprisingly swept 3-0 in the final by Eterna, who qualified through the Open Qualifiers.

Though G2 Hel still found success in 2025, winning both the Equal Esports Cup and Nova Series Prélude Playoffs.

Now, they will look to qualify for LoL Game Changers Rising 2026, which has a new, expanded format running from May to October.
