During the Xbox Partner Preview showcase today, Frostpunk 2 secured a release date for July 25th, 2024. It will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Until now, developer 11 Bit Studios only revealed that Frostpunk 2 was coming in the first half of 2024. Fortunately, the game remained on track and was not delayed.
The release date was also announced alongside a new trailer, which revealed Deluxe Edition content and plans for a beta in April 2024.
Players can pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition now to get a 10% discount. This edition will feature “three paid post-release DLCs”. It will also provide “exclusive access to the story mode 72 hours before the official release”.
Frostpunk 2 takes place 30 years after the Great Storm, and elaborates on many themes from its memorable predecessor. It will concentrate on the threats and difficulties of human nature.
Today’s trailer was mostly cinematic, but there were some glimpses of gameplay. Hopefully, now that the devs revealed a release date, gameplay trailers will roll out showcasing some of the fresh mechanics.
The original Frostpunk launched in 2018 to strong reviews, also developed and published by 11 Bit Studios.
The studio just published The Thaumaturge on March 4th. It’s a moody, dark fantasy RPG set in 20th century Warsaw. The game released to “Very Positive” reviews on Steam.
This week, Xbox also announced the next wave of games coming to Xbox Game Pass this month. Some highlights included MLB The Show 24, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated, and the return of Control Ultimate Edition.
Today, the Xbox Design Lab also revealed a brand-new Fallout-themed controller that fans can customize.
