Tom Henderson AMA

Hi Tom, i'm new here and i really like your work on the gaming news. So, First of all, thank you.

I'm really fan of RTS and i glad to see they are coming back to the Golden Age.

I know i'm asking you different questions but i would like to know if you could give Is some info about the following ones:

1) i seen your article about the next Stronghold game, called " the Dark Ages". Do you think we'll see the First trailer next year. And do you know more about It that you could share with us?

2) Xbox and World's Edge done a great work with the AOE franchise. The latest AOM Retold has been a critically success and It sold well. The future of AOE should be bright. So, about that, did you hear something about potential other AOE games in the works (AOE 5 or AOM2)?

3) After the ABK acquisitions there were some rumors about new StarCraft 3 under development? Is It true? And did you hear something about Warcraft 4?

4) last question: do you think Relic Entertainment could joint into XBOX studios in the near future?

Thanks a lot for your work and for all answers you will able to share with us.

Have a nice day.

Cheers from Italy, Ciao!!
Trademark for Stronghold was filed earlier this year, so it could be a couple years out yet. No way to tell on that one.

I am not sure on all the other Xbox questions, sorry!

So I wonder what SHG's next game will be, because the modern day is covered, the recent past too, only the near or distant future remains as "news"

I hope Activision/Microsoft doesn't refer them to being a support studio

I dont know if Warzone will be able to stay relevant in 2027 for example, i think the BR fever it's slowly fading. They have to evolve in a significant way the formula. Maybe the next big thing is the map creator project?
BR fever is slipping a bit, yeah. I am not really sure what they can do to keep bringing people back to it. Who knows, by then the next "big thing" could be out. I initially thought that was extraction shooters, but people don't seem to be as on board with that as they was with BR. Maybe with Battlefield and Delta Force it's more large-scale multiplayer matches or something?

Doubtful but if battlefield do return to their old form I reckon a lot of people would enjoy the more sandbox approach to big team shooters vs one that chases realism.

Hi. Long Tom Sensation 😉

With the recent news of Battlefield coming in 2025 with a modern setting (set around 2027-2030), in your opinion, do you see Activision and Call of Duty trying to compete with this new Battlefield game?

If you do, which game do you think they’d put out to rival and compete with this new Battlefield? Obviously Call of Duty is a yearly game whilst Battlefield isn’t, so I don’t suppose BO6 would be competing as that game will be coming to the end of its lifecycle by time Battlefield comes out, but what about that rumoured BO2 sequel coming in 2025 (which is also rumoured to be set around the 2030s) or the next Modern Warfare game from Infinity Ward in 2026 (MW has been putting out large maps and large map modes like Ground War which i see competing with Battlefield.

Last question, do you know what SHG is cooking for their next game? Anything like Advanced Warfare 2 or another MW game or something new?
What’s your opinion @Tom Henderson
