Fortnite’s superhero-themed season is well underway, providing a host of new weapons and abilities to utilize, and we’ve got all the details on Unstable Exotic Weapons.
Fortnite‘s Unstable Exotic Weapons are some of the best weapons to use this season in your quest to secure victory, with each offering a special bonus effect that can turn the tide in any battle you encounter.
Obtaining them requires some legwork, however, as you won’t find these weapons in any old chest. Fear not, though, as we’ve got the breakdown on everything you need to know.
All Unstable Exotic Weapons in Fortnite
There are three Unstable Exotic Weapons in Fortnite this season, though more may be added as the season progresses.
Each Unstable Exotic Weapon has a different effect, all of which we’ve highlighted below.
- Unstable Yoink Shotgun: Some shots will ‘yoink’ the opponent you shoot towards you. The Unstable Yoink Shotgun has a small magazine clip, holding only two bullets.
- Unstable Voltage Burst Pistol: The first and final shots in a magazine result in a shockwave effect around the area of impact, dealing shock damage to a small area.
- Unstable Frostfire Shotgun: Successful shots cycle between two effects; the Pepper effect increases your speed, while the Slowdown effect makes your enemy slower.
As mentioned, these weapons are not in the loot pool from standard chests, and there are specific processes to obtaining them.
How to Get Unstable Exotic Weapons in Fortnite
There are only two ways to directly obtain Unstable Exotic Weapons in Fortnite, though you can loot them from defeated opponents.
Defeating Overlord Spires is the best method to guarantee the ultra-rare loot this season, as they will drop at least one Unstable Exotic Weapon when defeated.
Up to three Overlord Spires spawn each game, in random locations and at random times, which are highlighted on the map by purple markers.
Alternatively, Unstable Exotic Weapons can be looted from Rank S Hero Caches, which are highlighted on your map. To unlock them, you must meet the corresponding Hero Rank.
Here’s how to upgrade your Hero Rank:
- Eliminate players.
- Survive Storm zones.
- Deliver Sprites to Shrines.
- Destroy Scout Spires.
- Eliminate AI opponents.
While looting Rank S Hero Caches is the safer option for grabbing Unstable Exotic Weapons, they are not a guaranteed drop.
