Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 Patch Notes: Complete V42.00 Update Notes

A new season beckons in Fortnite with the start of Chapter 7 Season 4, which brings around a heap of changes across the board in the v42.00 patch notes.

Expected to be the penultimate season of the Chapter in Fortnite, the Override season is one of Epic Games‘ biggest collab flexes ever, with the likes of Sonic the Hedgehog, Kingdom Hearts, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Tetris, and many more set to showcase as the season progresses.

For all the details on everything that has changed in Chapter 7 Season 4 in the v42.00 patch, take a look below.

A host of changes have come into play for Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, including new POIs, updates to the loot pool, and a new array of Sprites.

The updated POIs are Stone Sanctum, Green Hill Zone, and Reality’s Reign, while a host of new Sprites have joined the mix, alongside the new Sprite Garden feature that allows you to show off and display all of the Sprites you have gathered throughout the history of the mechanic.

Major new features are also in place for the Override season, including Lobby Hack codes to redeem rewards, and Match Overrides that, when captured, provide major tweaks to the gameplay in your current match.

As ever, there’s also a fresh drop of weapons, including collab items for Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man.

Complete Fortnite V42.00 Update Notes

The complete list of update notes, including bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements, is shown below via the Epic Games Communities page.

Sprites Enabled in Ranked

With the new Season launch, Sprites have joined the fight in Ranked Battle Royale. You can collect them and they’ll keep you company, but their gameplay powers have been disabled to preserve competitive integrity.

Quality-of-Life Improvements

New Quests Tab

The Quests tab has a fresh look! Existing and new categories now live in one scrollable view, with an updated Sidebar so you can jump right into any category. Collections is now built into the Quests view too, so tracking your Characters, Victory Royales, Match Elims and other Accolades no longer requires switching tabs.

PSA: The updated Quests tab is rolling out over time – some players may not see it right away.

Fog of War Overhaul

The map’s fog now lifts in smaller pieces. Instead of entire POIs at once, individual landmarks reveal as you visit them, so your map reflects exactly where you’ve explored.

Controller Improvements: Tweak Zone

Controller players: if you haven’t tried the Tweak Zone setting yet, you’re leaving aim on the table. Added at the start of Chapter 7 Season 3, Tweak Zone puts those tiny stick movements normally filtered out by your dead zone to work – attaching your crosshair directly to your stick so even the slightest touch fine-tunes your aim. Your camera control, dead zones and sensitivity all keep working exactly as before.

Head to your Controller settings to configure its area, adjust crosshair sensitivity and choose when it’s enabled. Perfect for lining up a long shot or turning a body shot into a headshot.

  • Fixed a bug that would sometimes prevent your controller binds from saving consistently when modified on Android.
  • Corrected an inconsistent fire rate on the left side of the screen when using the Tap Anywhere Fire Mode.
  • Fixed a bug causing the Shoot button to sometimes become unresponsive or fire continuously after using a Self-Revive Device.
