It feels like an eternity since GTA 6’s debut trailer dropped. Rockstar Games is doing its best to keep us all waiting for the next footage, but former Rockstar dev Obbe Vermeij is confident that the sequel doesn’t need a second trailer.
The first GTA 6 trailer was incredible. The fictional area of Leonida (based on Florida) looks to be bouncing with people, and it looks like anything can happen on any given day. But it left us with more questions than answers: Who is Lucia? How many crimes were committed in the trailer? And when, oh when, is GTA 6 trailer number two arriving?
This is a question to be answered another day. But former Rockstar technical director Obbe Vermeij claims the game would be even more impactful if it had no second trailer.
GTA 6 Has “More Than Enough Hype”

Vermeij was the technical director at Rockstar Games North between 1995 and 2009. He was involved in many of the company’s biggest releases, including the epic GTA trilogy of titles from the PS2 era to GTA 4.
17 years ago, on April 29th 2008 we released Grand Theft Auto IV. To focus on making the game truly next-gen, we dropped many game features from San Andreas. Stats (fitness, weight), Multiple cities, Stealth, Underwater swimming, Jet packs, Tanks, Bicycles, Monster trucks, Car
He left a few months after the release of GTA 4, but clearly still has a fondness for the franchise. In a recent X message, Vermeij commented on GTA 6: “If it was my call I wouldn’t release any additional trailers.“
The former Rockstar dev believes there is “More than enough hype around VI and the element of surprise is going to make the release only bigger as an event.“
Also: If it was my call I wouldn’t release any additional trailers. There is more than enough hype around VI and the element of surprise is going to make the release only bigger as an event.
