Firesprite Games, the developer behind the PlayStation VR2 game Horizon Call of the Mountain, has moved into a brand new studio.
This move, according to the company, is “a significant step forward for Firesprite in helping us fulfill our vision of becoming a creative powerhouse within the PlayStation Studios family.”
Acquired by Sony in 2021, Firesprite Games now sits with over 250 employees with a goal of “developing exciting projects as part of the PlayStation Studios family”.
While the next lineup of PlayStation games from the studio hasn’t been announced yet, the studio is working on the PC multiplayer online shooter Star Citizen: Theaters of War (working title) alongside Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium.
Firesprite formed back in 2012, creating games such as Run Sackboy! Run! for PlayStation Vita, and The Persistence and Air Force Special Ops: Nightfall for the original PlayStation VR. While most of their work so far has been in a co-development format, it could be assumed that the studio will now start focusing on games where it becomes the primary developer for the PlayStation 5 and beyond.
