FaZe Vegas Wins Call of Duty League Major 2 at DreamHack Birmingham

FaZe Vegas has managed to snatch glory away from OpTic Texas at the last post in the United Kingdom. The team secured the top spot at the Call of Duty League Major 2 tournament, pulling off a huge upset and launching a counter-attack after being pushed into the lower bracket by OpTic Texas.

The entire weekend was a stunning spree for OpTic Texas, which made it to the grand final with just one map loss. It wasn’t to be at the end of all things, though, as FaZe Vegas showed immense resilience to grab the $150,000 grand prize and the coveted Call of Duty League trophy.

Insider Gaming Esports was on the ground at DreamHack Birmingham and can attest to how hard FaZe Vegas fought to lift the trophy, the organization’s first in almost a year.

FaZe Vegas Claims the Top Spot in Birmingham

FaZe Vegas might not have had the backing of the crowd at DreamHack as OpTic Texas did, but that wasn’t enough of a debuff to stop the team storming through the bracket. On that note, we do have to mention that the UK crowd was so phenomenal that the CDL leadership team is already sizing up ways to come back soon.

In the opening round, FaZe managed to pull off a masterful reverse sweep against LA Thieves, sending the team into the lower run to eventually be eradicated by Toronto KOI.

After that, it was a brilliant 3-0 sweep against Paris Gentle Mates, the winner of the first CDL Major of 2026 and one of the only organizations to heavily overcome OpTic Texas in recent months. The upper bracket run led FaZe into OpTic Texas’s sights, and it was almost all she wrote.

OpTic forced FaZe into the lower bracket after a 3-1 win, forcing FaZe to knuckle down against a capable Toronto KOI. That was, of course, a victory for FaZe, hence the resurgence in the grand final against OpTic Texas.

It was there, at the end of the line, that FaZe Vegas managed to pile in and decimate OpTic Texas. The opening Hardpoint went in FaZe’s favor pretty easily, but OpTic fired back with a clean round of Search on Raid, tying things up. From there, it was all FaZe.

Overload on Scar, Hardpoint on Exposure, and a round of Search on Exposure were all FaZe needed to seal the deal and lift the trophy in Birmingham.
