The groups for the Esports World Cup Counter-Strike 2 tournament were decided after the conclusion of the brutal and exhilarating LAN Last Chance Qualifiers, which saw the final four teams make the 32-team event.
BIG, 100 Thieves, JiJieHao, and K27 made it through the LCQ, with Oleksandr ‘s1mple’ Kostyliev’s BC.Game made to wait for their Tier 1 debut with the new lineup.

Group Stage Format:
- Four eight-team GSL, double-elimination groups
- Top four of each group advance to the 16-team playoffs
- All matches are Best of 3
Playoff Format:
- 16-team single-elimination bracket
- All matches Best of 3 except for Bo5 Grand Final
- Third/Fourth place playoff

The Esports World Cup main event begins with four eight-team groups, arranged in the following order:

27 teams were invited to the Esports World Cup CS2 tournament via VRS, with Lynn Vision qualifying via the Asian Champions League. The four LCQ teams complete the list of 32 teams.
EWC CS2 Prize Pool
EWC 2026 features a $2,000,000 prize pool, all of which is designated as player prize money, so players will be highly motivated for the event. As will orgs, however, due to the Club Championship incentives and rewards at EWC.

Esports World Cup 2026 CS2 Location
The majority of the Counter-Strike Esports World Cup tournament will be held at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, where EWC 2026 is based.
However, the Grand Final on August 23 will be held at the Accor Arena in Paris, representing a significant boost to the Grand Final’s attendance.
How to Watch Esports World Cup CS2
The Esports World Cup will be broadcast over EWC’s YouTube and Twitch, as well as on broadcast partner DAZN. Finding the official YouTube stream is easy through the EWC homepage.
As for Twitch, the stream name depends on the stage the event is on. For playoffs, that means the stc Arena twitch will be the host of the livestream.
Esports World Cup 2026 Counter-Strike Tournament Predictions
We don’t have a lot of data to draw from this season thus far. BLAST Bounty 2026 Season 2 saw MOUZ make an impressive and somewhat unexpected run to lift the trophy.
Spirit’s performance saw a strange regression as the tournament went on, going back to old habits of playing slow and tepid CS on the T-side, especially.
Spirit were the only truly top team to make the BLAST Bounty LAN Finals after an online stage which featured dozens of upsets, but this event will be fully on LAN, so we can expect better things from teams like Vitality and Falcons that started their seasons with upset losses online.
That means that it is perhaps better to look at the IEM Cologne 2026 Major as the template for favorites here, with Major champions Falcons putting a special emphasis on EWC as an org.
Vitality will also have a special emphasis on the event due to the org’s history in the Accor Arena, where they won their first Major in 2023. The showing will also be the roster’s last event as a five for some time, as Justinas ‘jL’ Lekavičius will stand-in for William ‘mezzi’ Merriman at BLAST Porto, then Dan ‘apEX’ Madesclaire for PGL Masters Bucharest.
So Vitality, Falcons, Spirit, and FURIA can be understood as the favorites, but MOUZ can perhaps take advantage of their fine form as other teams creak into the season, and surprise again.
As for teams who are unlikely to win the whole thing, a few wins here could be transformative to the seasons of several rosters at the event. The VRS impact of the event could catapult rosters into Tier 1 relevance, and put them well on their way to qualifying for the PGL Singapore Major.
NIP, 100T, TYLOO, BIG, and GamerLegion are amongst the teams who would benefit massively from a couple of wins here, even if an event win is ultimately a bridge too far.
