Counter-Strike 2 Esports World Cup Grand Final Moved to the Accor Arena

The Esports Foundation has announced that the Grand Final of the Counter-Strike 2 tournament at the Esports World Cup has been moved to Paris’ Accor Arena.

The Esports World Cup 2026 Club Championship will also be awarded to the winning organization at the venue, bringing the seven-week esports event to a close.

Interest in Counter-Strike leads to venue upgrade for EWC

The Grand Final of the Esports World Cup Counter-Strike 2 tournament has been moved to the Accor Arena due to the rapid sale of tickets for the event at EWC’s venue at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, expanding the crowd size significantly for the event.

The Accor Arena holds between 15,000 and 20,300 fans, depending on configuration, representing a significant boost to the capacity for the Counter-Strike 2 Grand Final, which was expected to take place at the ~5,000-capacity stc Arena in the Expo Porte de Versailles.

The Accor Arena famously held the last Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Major, the BLAST Paris 2023 Major, which saw Vitality and Mathieu ‘ZywOo’ Herbaut claim their first Major.

The Major victory was Astralis legend Peter ‘dupreeh’ Rasmussen’s final Major victory, standing alone as the only player to win five Majors in Counter-Strike, sparking memorable scenes as he held his baby on stage as the confetti fell.

Of course, Vitality has gone on to win two Majors in CS2 since, and countless other titles, but Vitality IGL Dan ‘apEX’ Madesclaire still holds winning the Major in front of his home fans as a highlight of his career.

The French roster will therefore be targeting the Grand Final as another chance to reunite with the Golden Hornets, the lauded and loud diehard fans of the French org.

The Grand Final and Club Championship ceremony will take place on August 23, the conclusion of the 32-team CS2 event, and of the seven-week Esports World Cup 2026.

Tickets were made live immediately following the announcement.
