ESL One Birmingham 2026 welcomes fans to the bp Live Arena for Tier 1 Dota 2 action, with it all to play for in three lower bracket matches on Friday.
Thursday’s Upper Bracket semis were the last of the studio games, with Tundra and Yandex setting up a scintillating Upper Bracket final.
Lower Bracket teams fight for survival
Friday’s matches are either the bitter end of a short playoffs or the beginning of a potential miracle Lower Bracket run, as MOUZ face Xtreme Gaming and Falcons take on Parivision.
MOUZ recorded an all-or-nothing record in the Group Stages, going 4-0-3 in the Best of 2s. The roster have disappointingly fallen out of title contention recently after their PGL Wallachia Season 6 victory. However, with a new meta abound, let’s see what they can do.
They’re certainly more in-form than Xtreme, who only converted one of their Bo2 series into a win, a 2-0 over OG.
The Chinese TI 2025 runners-up will be disappointed by 1-1 records against Nigma and paiN, but their losses to Spirit and Aurora were more explicable.
The winner of MOUZ vs Xtreme will face Spirit, after Spirit’s Upper Bracket defeat to Spirit.
Falcons enters the Lower Bracket after a 3-3-1 series record, with a 9-5 game record. Everything feels up in the air for Falcons, considering their run since TI and the FISSURE Playground title that followed.
The roster set the record for most games together at this event; They will have to use that synergy to come up with new solutions on the new patch to make that LB run, but that run seems more believable than for the other teams.
Parivision’s tournament saw an incredible turnaround after a painful first few contests. There are still so many questions around this team and its direction under Clement ‘Puppey’ Ivanov as coach.
Can the roster continue to grow in the playoffs? If they can, it would be a major breakthrough but not an expected one.
One thing is for sure, the beer will be flowing as the fans flood into the bp live Arena for the first time since 2024.
