Escape From Tarkov Developer Responds To Negative Unheard Edition Backlash

Just a day after revealing the $250 Escape from Tarkov Unheard Edition to the world and receiving plenty of backlash surrounding it, developer Battlestate Games has taken to Reddit to update players on what those with the Edge of Darkness (EOD) edition of the game will receive.

In a post on the game’s subreddit, director Nikita Buyanov has walked back the exclusive nature of the co-op PvE mode while mentioning that some of the features that were exclusive to the Unheard edition will now be available for EOD owners.

“To honor the owners of the EOD version and their indelible importance and role in the EFT universe, we plan to add the following new unique features to the EOD edition,” Buyanov said before diving into the list.

The list includes returns of insured items, ability to skip two daily quests per day for free, increased basic PMC karma, increased basic charisma skill, a unique hideout craft, increased personal trader buying limits by 20%, a special quest line with increased pockets side as a reward, and more.

The biggest, however, is six months of access to the aforementioned co-op PVE mode. That said, after the six months, players will have to upgrade their edition of the game to keep access.

Fans Still Aren’t Happy With The Updates

Despite the update on the subreddit, many players continue to voice their opinion on the new edition of the game.

“6 months?” said one user. “Still doesn’t honour the fact that EoD purchasers did so on the pretext that we would receive ‘Free access to all subsequent DLCs (Season pass)’.”

Added another, “This is just more pay to win stuff not what we wanted, stop adding random pay 2 win features, monetize your game cosmetically if you’re bleeding funds. Your game is great stop ruining it.”

Said one more: “So there is a ‘High priority matching for EOD’. Are you telling me I am stuck in a 15 minute queue every game on purpose only because I “only” paid 80$ for a beta game?”
