On Thursday, Epic Games announced that it was laying off 16% of the company. While the layoffs spanned multiple areas within the company, one area seemingly hit hard was Fall Guys developer Mediatonic.
There were reports that the entirety of the team behind Fall Guys was caught up in the layoffs, though that was then said to not be the case. Now, in an official statement from the company via VGC, Epic Games doubled down on that denial.
“This is false,” an Epic Games spokesperson said regarding the full Mediatonic team being let go. “Mediatonic’s work on Fall Guys continues to be a company priority”.
Insider Gaming has reached out to Epic Games for clarification on what Fall Guys being a “priority” for the company means. Should a response be received, it will be added to this story.
In total, 830 — updated from the 870 originally announced by the company — employees were set to be let go as part of the layoffs. Another 250 were leaving the company as part of divestitures by Epic Games.
