Previews for the upcoming Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, have finally surfaced online and reveal a variety of details about the challenges, art design, and more.
A new PlayStation blog describes the upcoming Land of Shadow setting as “ancient and blighted.” Its environment features “a vast settlement, an expansive castle, and a dark woodland.”
The blog also mentions the DLC will feature “10+ full bosses and additional side bosses.” These include the Divine Beast Dancing Lion and Twin Moon Knight, a castle guardian.
There will also be “around one hundred new weapons” players can find, as well as new weapon types such as Martial Arts.
Lastly, the PlayStation preview mentioned the Shadow Realm Blessing system, adding stackable buffs to even out gameplay.
Still, a report by VGC describes the opening hours as “brutal.” The fresh system appears to balance out increased difficulty for the DLC. VGC also said there are “three builds to start from.”
PC Gamer adds in a new report that players can scour for Scadutree Fragments to increase their Scadutree Blessing level to scale stats.
FromSoftware recently revealed a new story trailer for Shadow of the Erdtree, though today’s previews confirmed much more. The DLC will add new weapons, equipment, and more, including the brand-new Land of Shadow.
Elden Ring remains widely praised among critics and fans alike, and Shadow of the Erdtree is highly anticipated DLC. However, a recent report spotted a key comment by FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki, mentioned during an interview. Miyazaki suggested that Shadow of the Erdtree will be Elden Ring’s “first and last DLC.”
Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree will release on June 21, 2024, for all available platforms.
