EA Sports College Football 27 Is Coming To PC

For the first time, an EA Sports College Football game is coming to PC. Ahead of an official announcement from Electronic Arts (EA), Insider Gaming can confirm the rumors of the game’s release on the platform.

EA has yet to confirm it’s coming, though it did seemingly let the cat out of the bag when it mentioned EA Play Pro in a recent press release. As you may or may not know, EA Play Pro is only available on PC.

A release on PC has been in the works at EA since development on the college football series began development earlier this decade. Sources close to the game’s development say that it was a priority as the PC player base continues to grow. As far as why they waited until the third game of the revival to bring it to the platform, I was told that a big reason was security for players in the game.

EA Sports College Football features real college athletes who are licensed via the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC). This agreement ensures that players are accurately represented and compensated for their participation.

It’s also resulted in limited customizations in the games as it pertains to the players. With a game releasing on PC, there is the elephant in the room regarding mods. Talented individuals and teams will take these games and update them in a way that adds improved presentation, equipment, and more. That could include current players, or even modifications of the game to include real players that aren’t on the game’s rosters.

Sources say that EA has gone through everything from a legal standpoint and “feels confident” that there won’t be any issues on the licensing front.

It’s understood that College Football 27 on PC was developed to allow crossplay between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S users. Whether it made the cut wasn’t clear after talks, but one source said they would be “surprised” if you couldn’t play online across all platforms. However, they did admit that it could be an extreme way to counter any licensing concerns.

The full reveal of EA Sports College Football 27, including the expected announcement of the game coming to PC, will take place on Thursday, June 4, at 8pm ET. Insider Gaming will have full coverage of everything announced.
