If your primary goal is unlocking the various Vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you’ll find it’s easier said than done. Most require some feat of strength to prove yourself to the trainer. Others, however, require a simple side quest. Here is where to find the Greatsword in Dragon’s Dogma 2!

Where to Get the Greatsword in Dragon’s Dogma 2

First and foremost, you must speak with the Vocation Guild in Vernsworth to receive the side quest Vocation Frustration. The man behind the counter explains that, while they wish they could help newcomers train in these Vocations, they no longer have the equipment. Their shipment was ransacked by goblins, which points you to Trevo Mine to locate the weapon.

There, you’ll also find the Archistaff, but let’s focus on the Greatsword.

You’ll have previously visited Trevo Mine, most likely for the main quest. It’s part of the task to prove you’re the Arisen by helping to clear out dangerous locations around the countryside. Unfortunately, this can complicate matters. If you cleared the mine before, chances are you looted every container. If you did and wound up selling the Greatsword or Archistaff, you’re in a bit of trouble. It’s not impossible to get others, but it’s more challenging.

First off, however, let’s delve into the mine itself. Enter the mine and push forward down the path, then head left into the cavern. Your destination is northeast through the dank cave. As you push on, you’ll inevitably stumble upon a large open area with a handful of goblins and a gold chest near a campfire in the corner. Start by clearing out the enemies, then loot the chest. It contains the Two-Hander Greatsword.

How to Get Another Greatsword

If, like me, you ventured into Trevo Mine previously and wound up selling unwanted loot, like the Greatsword, then it’s not the end of the world. You can still find others as random loot throughout the game world. But your best option is to visit Checkpoint Rest Town.

You can walk there and enjoy the scenery or fast travel with an oxcart. Either way, there’s a merchant there who will sell both the Greatsword and Archistaff.

What’s Next?

After recovering a Greatsword and Archistaff, return to the Vocation Guild in Vernsworth to speak with the Representative again. He’ll allow you to unlock and use the Warrior and Sorcerer Vocations.

For new players, I highly recommend the Warrior. It’s a powerful and capable Vocation that should see you through most encounters relatively easily.
