Xbox is hitting hard with its showcase at Summer Game Fest. We saw the first official reveal of the upcoming Black Ops 6 and then immediately jumped straight into a high-octane trailer for Doom: The Dark Ages. But do we know the Doom: The Dark Ages release date?
When is Doom: The Dark Ages Coming Out?
I have to say, as someone who is still relatively new to the Doom franchise overall, this trailer absolutely caught my attention. Unfortunately, the only thing we know about the Doom: The Dark Ages release date is that the game is coming sometime in 2025.
Based on the overall state of the gameplay we saw during the Xbox Games Showcase, I don’t think we’ll have to wait too long into 2025 for this one to hit digital shelves. It’s looking absolutely phenomenal, frantic, and chaotic in all the right ways!

Is Doom: The Dark Ages Multiplayer?
Currently, the only thing we know for sure is that Doom: The Dark Ages focuses on its single-player campaign. We’re unclear whether a multiplayer component will be part of the core experience.
According to the game’s Steam store page:
DOOM: The Dark Ages is the single-player, action FPS prequel to the critically acclaimed DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal. You are the DOOM Slayer, the legendary demon-killing warrior fighting endlessly against Hell. Experience the epic cinematic origin story of the DOOM Slayer’s rage in 2025.
It appears developer id Software is busy focusing on a cinematic story-based campaign above all else, but that’s not a bad thing this time around!
