According to a new interview, Divinity will be released in early access, similar to previous Larian games.
After cooking up a storm with Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian Studios is back again to deliver a brand new blockbuster to the players, this time in the Divinity franchise. We already know the upcoming title will be a turn-based game; now, the developers have also shed light on their release plans.
Divinity’s Early Access Format Will Help Deliver a ‘Better Game’
During a new interview with GamesRadar+, Larian Boss, Swen Vincke, discussed an early access launch for the upcoming Divinity game. Vincke stated that they still want to do early access as it is the blueprint for their games, and the community participation interests them. The devs have seen with Divinity: Original Sin 1, Divinity: Original Sin 2, and Baldur’s Gate 3, where the community was a significant part of the game’s development.
The Larian boss added that the early access release helps games improve massively and also keeps players invested. It can cause extra development effort, but eventually provides a better game overall.
Vincke reiterated the early access launch for Divinity during a Bloomberg interview, while also giving us an idea of when to expect the title. He stated, “I think three to four years is much healthier than six years,” referring to Baldur’s Gate 3, which took six years to develop due to COVID-19 restrictions and other problems.
