Last week, Insider Gaming exclusively reported that Diablo 4 news will be released before The Game Awards on December 8.
Insider Gaming understands this is still the case, with over 100 journalists getting the opportunity to see a behind-the-scenes presentation as well as getting the opportunity to get hands-on with the game. It’s believed the embargo for the event and hands-on impressions will lift on December 7.
During the presentation, Rod Fergusson invited all of the attendees to watch The Game Awards as they’ll be some announcements.
It’s believed that the announcement will likely be a release date for the game, which has previously been claimed by Xbox Era‘s Sikmamikanico and WindowsCentral‘s Jez Corden has claimed that Diablo 4 is set to release in April 2023.
Earlier this year, a leaked Activision Blizzard internal document had previously revealed that pre-orders will be made available at The Game Awards; so it’s almost certain to be announced.
Insider Gaming also understands that some PlayStation Store API on the backend refers to a Diablo 4 open beta.
As a little trivia question, you might get asked in 5 years’ time; Diablo 4’s codename is We Love Dogs.
UPDATE – Jez has clarified that the April release target date could have been a launch window with an 8-week variance.
