Dead Island 2 Release Date Coming Earlier

Dead Island 2 release date

If you’ve been on the edge of your seat to play Dead Island 2, the wait got a little shorter as the game’s release date has been moved up.

Announced via the game’s Twitter account, Dead Island 2 has gone gold and will now be released on Friday, April 21. The game was originally set for an April 28 release.

“You asked for it, you got it,” the post said. “Dead Island 2 went gold and it’s coming out a week early.  See you in HELL-A on April 21, 2023.”

Originally announced in 2014, Dead Island 2 has faced years of delays for one reason or another. The game was first developed by Yager before Dambuster Studios took over back in 2019.

Dead Island 2 takes place in a “hellish vision of LA”, and will feature six playable characters at launch.

“Dead Island 2 is stylish, vibrant, and flooded with zombie infection,” Deep Silver says. “Explore iconic, gore-drenched Los Angeles. Meet larger-than-life characters. Slay countless foes in exquisitely bloody detail. And evolve to become the ultimate Zombie Slayer!”

One unique feature of the game will be Alexa Game Control. This allows players to use their voices to taunt zombies, swap weapons, set waypoints, and more. The game will also feature a “proper RPG experience” in the form of its main story alongside a three-player co-op mode.

Dead Island 2 will be available for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
