The upcoming Dead by Daylight movie has found its director, as Thordur Palsson is set to take on the crucial role. The news was revealed during the 10th Anniversary broadcast for Dead by Daylight, as both Jason Blum and producer Stephen Mulrooney announced Palsson’s involvement on stage.
Palsson is an Icelandic director best known for The Valhalla Murders and The Damned, though Dead by Daylight is all set to be his latest venture.

Speaking on Palsson’s hiring during the broadcast, Blum had this to say:
There is no better moment than the tenth anniversary to share this news. Thordur is the filmmaker we trust to carry ‘Dead by Daylight’ from the screen you play on to the big screen you watch in theaters.
Palsson then took to the stage, and revealed what was most important to him regarding the Dead by Daylight film adaptation:
For me, the main thing is capturing the feeling of playing Dead by Daylight. The main thing is I want to capture the feeling of looking over your shoulder. I want to capture the dread, the tension, the fear of what’s waiting for you in The Fog.
I love horror that stays with you after it’s over, and that’s the cinematic experience we want to bring to the big screen for you guys.
First announced back in 2023, the Dead by Daylight film has been a slow and steady process, with Blumhouse Atomic Monster only just revealing the writers a few months ago, in February this year.
It seems like it was worth the wait, though, as horror veterans David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick (best known for working on the Conjuring series) and Alexandre Aja (director of Never Let Go, Piranha 3D, and Crawl) are now both working on the script.
