It has been claimed on social media that Call of Duty dataminers have dug up references to an all-new Warzone 2 Resurgence map named Vondel, which is reportedly going to be set in the Netherlands.
This news comes courtesy of CharlieIntel on Twitter, but at present, nothing other than the map’s name and location is known – if it indeed is an accurate report from the dataminers themselves. If this is found to be true, then it could mean that there are already plans to introduce a new small-form map to the Warzone 2 platform, just weeks after Ashika Island launched.
Could a New Warzone 2 Resurgence Map Be Coming?
It has been just weeks since Ashika Island launched, bringing the respawn-driven Resurgence mode to the Warzone 2 platform. It has proven to be a fan-favourite already, pulling a fair share of players away from Warzone 2’s Al Mazrah, which has been a sticky subject for fans since Warzone 2 first launched back in November 2022.
Now, it seems that Call of Duty dataminers (who at present are unidentified) have let CharlieIntel know that they’ve uncovered a potentially new Warzone 2 Resurgence map that’s going by the name of ‘Vondel’ in the files.

I ran a quick Google search – it almost means ‘Found’ in Dutch, or it could refer to a Dutch poet – Joost van den Vondel. It’s a reference that ties in with the claim that the new map is set in the Netherlands. That’s something to look at, as 2022’s Modern Warfare II featured scenes in Amsterdam, so could we be set to see the first ever Warzone map that isn’t set on some kind of island, but in a region contained within a city?
Of course, this could turn out to be nothing – but it’s not beyond the realms of possibility to imagine that another small-form map is being introduced to Warzone 2. It’s a hell of a lot easier than building out a brand-new, large-scale map.
