Cyberpunk’s Player Count Soars Ahead of Phantom Liberty Launch

Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 is finally here and players are absolutely loving it. From all accounts, it has breathed a fresh lease of life into a game that was already on the upswing, and in a few days, it’ll get even better. Fans of the rags-to-riches title are eagerly awaiting the release of Phantom Liberty, the first and only expansion for 2020’s biggest flop – and 2023’s shining gem.

With 2.0 in place, the consensus is that Cyberpunk 2077 is ‘a new game’ – and that’s why CD Projekt stressed that gamers should restart their playthrough to soak up everything that this sizeable update has to offer.

So, chooms – are you prepared for Phantom Liberty?

Cyberpunk Soaring

If we use Steam as a representative example, we can see how Cyberpunk 2077 is rocketing upwards in terms of its player count since the 2.0 update was released. It went from a peak player count of around 14,500 on September 21st, to a peak of 151,000 just yesterday – and Phantom Liberty isn’t even here yet.

Cyberpunk 2077 has one of the highest peak concurrent player counts on the entire platform – it was when the game debuted that it topped more than one million concurrent users, a stunning milestone for any game to achieve.

It’s positively enriching to see how well Cyberpunk 2077 has recovered, but it’s also slightly sad to see it come to an end. With Phantom Liberty being delivered in just a few days, we’ll be bidding farewell to Cyberpunk 2077 and looking ahead to whatever comes next.
