The latest Counter-Strike update included a silently dropped Easter Egg (or rather, Fall Egg), as players reported on Tuesday night that they were being offered a ‘Chicken Egg as part of their weekly drops.
The addition of eggs to the tactical FPS was not noted in the update patch notes, leaving players scratching their heads about what they were being offered.

How to receive an Egg in Counter-Strike 2
On Tuesday evening, Counter-Strike players reported their first egg acquisitions as they were offered an egg as an option in their weekly drops.
Weekly drops are awarded to all Prime-enabled accounts upon the first level-up after the Tuesday night/Wednesday morning weekly reset.
Usually, the weekly drops include a case or terminal, as well as collection skins and stickers, but this time players saw an egg as part of the offerings.
Players can usually claim two of the four options presented, however, the egg comes with a label warning that the egg is “untradeable” and “consumes both of your rewards” for the week.
Therefore, if you want the Chicken Egg item, you’re going to have to sacrifice your other weekly drops to claim it.
What does the Chicken Egg do in Counter-Strike?
Upon claiming the Chicken Egg, players have shared their main menu showing the egg sitting in a small nest beside the displayed CT or T agent on the CS2 home screen.
The Chicken Egg appears to have a timer, displaying a sort of ‘egg-timer’ counting down to the egg hatching.
The eggs are, at this stage, thought to be part of the long-expected ‘Pets’ system, which has been leaked by prominent VS2 dataminers such as Gabe Follower.
The egg is expected to hatch into a chick, from which point it will develop into a chicken.
Players have already shared on social media eggs with different colors and patterns, and that egg pattern is thought to have some relation to the eventual chicken you will receive, although that is not confirmed as of yet.
Dataminers have already found in the game files the models for several chickens, and other items including Chicken Feed.
Like weapons, the chickens themselves are expected to have types and patterns which make some rarer than others, but it is not clear whether they are tradable once they have matured from their egg state.
