According to a new report by The Verge, Activision is currently targeting a late October release for Call of Duty’s anticipated installment Black Ops 6.

October 18 would be considered mid-October. Given The Verge’s claims pointing to “late October”, this suggests that Black Ops 6 will likely drop on October 25, 2024. Insider Gaming supported this date per a new tweet from yesterday:

Just today, the Wall Street Journal also reported that Microsoft is planning to release this year’s Call of Duty game on Game Pass. The report says that Microsoft will release “the coming installment of Call of Duty to its subscription service instead of the longtime, lucrative approach of only selling it a la carte.”

During an interview with Bloomberg, Sarah Bond already confirmed that every first party game would launch on Game Pass, including Call of Duty. Bond added that “you’re going to see some more really big games going into Game Pass later this year.”

Reports from dataminers also surfaced earlier this month suggesting that a Black Ops 6 reveal is coming this month. A datamined Call of Duty 2024 blueprint revealed “SALLY 6” in tallies, hinting at a major announcement potentially coming soon. This could line up properly with the development timeline of Black Ops 6.

Last February, Insider Gaming also learned exclusive details that Call of Duty will embrace open world campaigns in future titles.

  1. Wasn’t Infinity Ward developing a third person AAA action game where’s that? Treyarch should get back to making third person games too and I wouldn’t mind seeing Sledgehammer take a crack at something. Beenox seems to be working on something too. Maybe they get the DC licenses.

  2. Black Ops isn’t the big seller like MW is. This won’t help Game Pass the same way something like a NBA 2K would.

  3. Phil’s promises are empty my guess they keep Activision as is because they need them to continue to release consistent high sellers. They need more though EA and Take2 would be good too having annual COD, NBA, and Madden helps then GTA Online, Sims, and Apex I mean Xbox needs it. Having the annual titles in Game Pass is what would attract people and offering discounts or exclusive perks to online titles.
