New details about a Call of Duty title by Sledgehammer Games have surfaced online, suggesting it will be set in a completely new sub-franchise.
The new exclusive details come from a reliable Call of Duty leaker, TheGhostofHope. Their latest post on X (formerly Twitter) reveals that Call of Duty 2027, which is being developed by Sledgehammer Games, “will not be Advanced Warfare 2”; instead, the developers will be targeting an entirely new subfranchise.
The Call of Duty instalment for 2027 will be set in a “modern era”, where players will not have ‘jetpacks’, but movement is “planned to be a big focus.” Moreover, it seems that Sledgehammer Games’ next Call of Duty instalment will be skipping a Zombies mode. The developers will be bringing back Get High. Lastly, there might be “a focus on martial arts within the gameplay”, and players might be able to use “karate kicks” and “karate chops”. As always, players should take this information with a grain of salt as it doesn’t come from an official source.
In other news, the same leaker is also responsible for bringing us news about Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. According to one of their recent posts, the next instalment is scheduled to arrive on November 14, 2025. What are your thoughts on Call of Duty 2027 starting an all-new modern sub-franchise?
