How do players construct Great Buildings?

Your typical building in Forge of Empires requires a bit of coin and some supplies to plop down, and it is all done via the very convenient build menu on the left-hand side of your menu. This will be located in the bottom left of the screen.

However, Great Buildings are unique.

They have their own menu, a row further down from your construction menu.

Great Buildings require more than just coins and supplies. You need goods and blueprints, nine of which are required per building to unlock if you wish to erect the entire structure.

Once you have all these acquired, you can place a Great Building down at level 0.

Every Great Building in Forge of Empires features unique graphics, bonuses, and varying space requirements before construction can begin.

Prior to planning your district, it is important to remember that you must acquire all the necessary blueprints. These blueprints form the entire structure of the building.

Great Blueprints have a 3×3 grid in your inventory. As you obtain them, they fill out the grid until it is complete.

Once finished, you can place the structure.

You can unlock blueprints for your Great Buildings by visiting other players and aiding them by polishing and motivating their actions.

Alternatively, if you’re not feeling overly friendly, you can plunder their buildings, though it has a much lower drop rate than if you were to help.

Furthermore, you can unlock additional blueprints as rewards from quests and challenges, trade duplicate blueprints, purchase them with diamonds, win events, and unlock the Buccaneer’s Bounty Bonus Chest.

How should players approach leveling their Great Buildings?

A key mechanic in Forge of Empires to bolster your power level and enjoy increased buffs is upgrading and leveling your Great Buildings.

This is an end-game mechanic designed to help you reach the late eras.

To level up your buildings, you must acquire Forge Points and contribute them to each building. As you do, the benefits from the building increase.

You can level by helping other players, having different players help you, and joining a guild designed to help each other.

Perhaps the best way for casual players to earn Forge Points and level up Great Buildings is simply to play the game daily and work through the eras.

As you progress, you’ll find that you accumulate Forge Points daily.

Alternatively, I would encourage you to participate in the multiplayer aspects of Forge of Empires.

If you play PvP tournaments, you can earn Forge Points by plundering buildings and unlocking chests for rewards.

If you do not want to attack another player, help them. You can do this by visiting someone’s settlement and using various actions, like polishing.

Is it necessary to build all Great Buildings?

Building every Forge of Empires Great Building is unnecessary, as some simply do not provide enough valuable bonuses to warrant the time or resources.

Some players, however, choose to challenge themselves to construct each one.

For now, I recommend constructing Castel del Monte, Saint Basil’s Cathedral, Deal Castle, Capitol, Alcatraz, and Lighthouse of Alexandria.

While certainly optional to enjoy Forge of Empires long-term, if you intend to take the game seriously or follow the meta, you will want to produce Great Buildings.

Many provide unique bonuses that cascade as you level them up to help produce additional buildings.
