When you play the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 campaign later this year, don’t expect a lengthy experience. What you should expect is what is being referred to as a “classic Call of Duty campaign”.
In an interview with Stephen Totilo, Treyarch production director Yale Miller talked about the campaign’s length and where it stands.
“Currently, the game’s netting out in the kind of length of a classic Call of Duty campaign,” Miller said.
He then went into what the team noticed players care more about with a Call of Duty campaign.
“Variety is a big one that we heard from fans,” he said. “They don’t want one note for your experiences. Luckily for us, Black Ops kind of lends itself to that, where you can do your heist missions, and your puzzle-solving and stealth and your big military incursions as well…While they want a lot of freedom, and they want a lot of variety…they also want to get taken on the roller coaster rides as well…
“I think a big goal for us all is just to give players the opportunity to be smart, where you’re not just taking them on this journey the whole time, where they have the opportunity to explore and decide how they want to get through a situation.”
Going back to the length, specifically, it could be assumed that the campaign should take somewhere from six-to-eight hours. Looking back at past games in the franchise — Modern Warfare 3 aside — the average length has been around that seven hour mark.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 releases on October 25 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch.
