Battlefield 6 players on PC have found a way to edit the game files to disable crossplay and prevent them from being matchmade with players using a controller, which is said to have ‘overpowered’ aim assist.
It’s a tale as old as time, where keyboard-and-mouse players feel at a disadvantage against controller players because of the aim assist developers add for controller players. In reality, aim assist is traditionally added for controller players in first-person shooters because keyboard and mouse offer more precise aiming. However, in recent years, keyboard and mouse players have felt that developers have incorporated aim assist too much, resulting in controller players now having a far greater advantage than those playing with keyboard and mouse.
The theory has led one player to discover that you can actually remove crossplay with controller players from the game files on PC For those who currently don’t have Battlefield 6 on PC, you can buy it here for the cheapest price.
How to Disable Crossplay with Battlefield 6 Controller Players
First posted online by the X account ottr, players can go into the game files at documents/battlefield 6/settings/steam/PROFSAVE and add GstGameplay.CrossPlayEnable 0
The change will ensure you are no longer matched against players using a controller, but there is one problem with doing this… Players have found that despite the game reportedly already selling over 10 million copies, the overwhelming majority use a controller, and at this moment in time, you’ll likely be playing against bots.
Ottr’s theory here is that the more people add the code to their files, the more mouse-and-keyboard players there’ll be, and as such, the lobbies will fill up faster with no bots.
It is worth pointing out, though, that editing your game files at this moment in time might not be worth it, as a future patch will be nerfing aim assist by around 25%. So if you are on PC, maybe hold off for now. Or if you don’t yet have the game and are deciding which platform to buy it on, it is currently discounted by 17% on the Xbox Series S|X.

This is honestly fucking laughable. “OP aim assist” is laughable when you can literally control your movement and recoil/aim with your whole fucking arm😂😂😂 PC players always find a way to cry when they either can’t dominate a lobby or things just don’t go their way.
Manipulating internal game files is bannable. It don’t matter what your reasoning is it goes against the games terms of service.
Lol. “Master PC Race” always crying. 8ve played on both PC and console amd the aim assist isn’t even all that, unlike COD. MnK still reign supreme. PC guys just like to cry
This is dumb because only prevents console/PC cross play, NOT controller specifically. Meaning, a player on PC when a controller will still be matched with you which still has aim assist
The only time aim assist really offers an unfair advantage is when the sticky movement makes you aware there is a player you can’t see. And being able too see enemies is a real issue in many modern shooters. Just sit in the corner or in the bushes and everybody runs past.
Don’t see why crossplay should be obligatory. It should be op in or whenever you are in a party with a console player you play on console servers.
Doesn’t matter if aim assist is a big deal or not.
LMFAOOO imagine having 2-3x the FPS advantage and the precision of using your palm to aim, yet somehow complaining about some 15yr old is cooking you🤣🤣🤣 it’s not like anyone can’t just usb an Xbox controller to the PC either huh 🤣🤣🧠
Aim assist, unless aggressive and able to ignore recoil, is never as good as mouse control. Get real guys. If I didn’t have to rebuy the game on PC I’d probably roll K/M combo but my friends play on Xbox. The aim assist is not that strong. They’ll be mad when they get murdered by other PC players because the disadvantaged controller users aren’t there to boost their K/D.
I wish I could choose to crossplay with only console players. Don’t like crossplay with pc cause 10 times the risk of hacking.
Aim assist has become aim bot. It’s basically letting the game play for you since you chose an inferior input device. Anything to make a buck, but killing a whole genre of games. It is no longer a first person shooter but first person strategy. Bring back skill in aiming….
Jesus Christ, m/k players have the biggest advantage over anyone else, and then complain that someone else has a tiny advantage.
Wow the amount of PC bashers in here is laughable on its own. I myself am on PC and Im laughing at this because I have 0 issues. But the amount of ignorance in here is also laughable. Imagine being so ignorant and not knowing how ignorant you are. Like the writer of this article what a waste of space. I couldn’t imagine writing such crap for articles. Love how sheep just follow along and add thier ignorance to the herd. Fucking pathetic.
I hate cross play because before it, I was forced to play with play less black people and CoD heads. Now these dumbasses think they are good at a game because the aim assist is so strong, EA has admitted players can’t intentionally drag their aim off a target. Shit ass game, made by shit ass people, played by shit ass console casuals.
I like all the console player like “yeah, now that our aim assist is so strong I can’t manually switch targets and a 25% recoil reduction I can show those PC nerds how good I am” lmfao. No one takes you seriously. Roll another one and go back to 2k.
Streamers crying
Then they will be the 1st ones who are complaining because the game is too sweaty.
It wouldn’t be an issue if the franchise had stayed PC only. Dumbing the games down for consoles is why we are where we are now with tiny maps, no server browser, twitchy run-and-gun gameplay, crybaby K/D kiddies.
