Battlefield 6 Devs: ‘Large Maps Exist’ Outside of the Beta

Battlefield 6 developers have confirmed that there are larger maps to explore beyond the ones showcased in the open beta.

Battlefield 6 is off to a great start, with the open beta yielding significant numbers for the game. We recently learned that the title has already surpassed 600,000 Steam sales and 2.7 million wishlists. Moreover, a new map and modes are coming in the next beta weekend. However, it seems there are even larger maps outside of BF6’s Open Beta.

Battlefield 6’s Larger Maps Will be Shown ‘Soon Enough’

Spotted by GameRant, the Battlefield lead producer at DICE, David Sirland, was recently told that some players feel the maps are way too small and the gameplay feels too fast. Sirland responded on X (formerly Twitter), stating that having small maps for Battlefield 6’s open beta was intentional, as they “hit the full-octane version of Battlefield on the head”. It also shows players that the developers are capable of handling this intense version of Battlefield 6 during the beta.

However, Sirland explains that “speed is a factor of map size”, which is why many players might feel that gameplay was too fast. However, “large maps exist” in Battlefield 6, and their “tempo scales accordingly”. The lead producer also teased that we will be seeing these larger BF6 maps “soon enough”.

In other news, Battlefield 6 developers have stated that matchmaking prioritises ping and time to game over skill. Additionally, viral Vtuber ‘RileyCS’ was banned from Twitch following BF6 cheating allegations. What are your thoughts on Battlefield 6 having large maps outside of the ones we saw in the open beta? Let us know through the official Insider Gaming forums discussion.
