Batman Arkham Shadow Sequel Likely Canceled After Meta Layoffs

It seems the developer of Batman: Arkham Shadow sequel has also been affected by recent Meta layoffs, with the title likely canceled.

For those unaware, Meta recently laid off close to 10% of their Reality Labs Division, and shut down multiple studios, including Twisted Pixel Games and Sanzaru Games. It seems they weren’t the only studios affected, and Camouflaj also faced significant layoffs.

Batman Arkham Shadow Sequel Developer Camouflaj Impacted by Layoffs

The details about the developer of the Batman Arkham Shadow sequel facing layoffs come from a report by Aftermath. Former Meta employees, who remained anonymous, revealed that only “a handful of employees” remain at the company and that they are working on a “new user experience for upcoming hardware”.

Additionally, studio heads stated that Batman: Arkham Shadow Sequel was being developed by Sanzaru instead of the developers of the first game, Camouflaj, and, as mentioned above, Sanzaru has been shut down. Moreover, a statement to Kotaku by a Meta spokesperson has confirmed that the layoffs indeed impacted Camouflaj, but the studio isn’t shutting down. No official statement has been released regarding the game’s cancellation.

Batman: Arkham Shadow’s sequel was confirmed through an interview with Commissioner Gordon, Mark Rolston, earlier this year. Rolston had stated that they were “about to start one of those”.

In other news, a recent claim states that the Harry Potter VR game has also been canceled following the studio closures and layoffs. Talking about layoffs, industry veteran Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb was also dismissed from Unity less than two years after joining the company. • Good. Where is Injustice 3? Been 9 years since 2 came out and soon to be 3 years since MK1. Ed said they’d release games even 2 years again where is it?

  • Never needed a Batman VR anyway, bring us a REAL Batman game like the Arkham series, Gotham Knights was a huge failure, even the abilities are trash & I find myself always trying to give other characters a chance but always end up with the same person as they’re abilities are just better, they coulda did them a lot better, was looking forward to playing Nightwing in a game but nope, his abilities aren’t even all that.
