It’s not enough that Baldur’s Gate 3 has a staggering 174 hours of cinematics or almost two-dozen classes – we now know that the game has 17,000 possible endings! It seems that with each passing day, Baldur’s Gate 3 is becoming an increasingly impressive RPG, and it keeps getting bigger, broader, and brighter with each new tidbit of news.
In an interview with Chrystal Ding, Associate Writing Lead at Larian, Fextralife uncovered this gargantuan piece of information. This was then later relayed in a sizeable video that spanned sixteen minutes and broke down everything we know about the game so far – and that Fextralife learned from an extended discussion with Larian employees.
17,000 – But Will We Only See One?
Let’s be honest – the average gamer will likely score one ending in Baldur’s Gate 3 and call it a day. It’s the nature of the modern-day RPG title – we can be given as much freedom and choice as we desire, and ultimately, we’ll end up following the same path every time.
Stealth Archer in Skyrim? You bet.
In this interview with Larian, the developer of Baldur’s Gate 3, it was claimed that there are 17,000 ‘ending variations’ that have been painstakingly constructed and written out. This was then backed up by a tweet posted by Larian’s Director of Publishing:
It’s worth stressing that even one word of dialogue spoken in a different way could constitute a ‘different ending’, so we can’t honestly expect each of those 17,000 variations to be dramatically different from one another.
It’s still an impressive figure, though – and it’s fully representative of the depth and breadth of this project.
Recently, we had the opportunity to learn about some fantastic features in Baldur’s Gate 3, such as the ability to customise your genitals and have relations with a Druid masquerading as a bear. Good times.
Baldur’s Gate 3 releases August 3rd on PC and September 6th on PlayStation 5.

Yeah no, there are not 17k endings. The player only cares about meaningfully different endings and there’s no way there are 17k of them. Stop with the sensationalist crap.
No way I get just one ending. I got 4 or 6 variations out of Divinity Original Sin 2 n expect to replay BG3 even more
