Expedition 33 was last year’s game of the year, and the team behind Astral Ascent announced the news during today’s Triple-i Initiative showcase. The new update is free and includes three exclusive bosses: The Mime, Golgra, and Petank. It also adds three new rooms pulled directly from Expedition 33. Those rooms are: The Gestral Village, The Campfire, and Lumière.
Additionally, characters such as Gustave appear. He can heal you, boost your attacks, and fight alongside you. Sciel and Maelle are also in this Astral Ascent. All three act as summons.
In an announcement on Steam, the team behind the game issued a statement on the crossover:
“We’ve wanted to do this for a long time. Getting to work with Sandfall Interactive on this crossover has been one of the best experiences we’ve had making Astral Ascent, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a game we fell in love with, like so many of you did, and this update is our way of paying tribute to it. Our biggest challenge was translating this world into our own pixel art, staying true to what makes these places feel alive while making them ours. We’re incredibly proud of what came out of it, and we hope it shows.”
