It was recently revealed that the all-new Resurgence experience headed to Warzone 2 in the Season Two update will be based on a Japanese map called Ashika Island. Now, on Twitter, the Call of Duty profile has been slowly and steadily dropping images that reveal the island’s points of interest in full.
From an ancient castle to a modern marketplace, and from underwater caverns to a jaunty beach club, it’s as diverse a map as you could possibly hope to see for such a small environment. As a Resurgence map, players will be able to jump into the respawn-driven game mode that has been missing from the Warzone 2 platform since it launched in November 2022.
Ashika Island Looks… Quite Good, Actually
This could be a turning point for Warzone 2, which has suffered recently under the weight of dwindling player numbers and an increasingly disappointed audience. For weeks, players have been begging for the return of Resurgence, given that, last year, it was by far the most popular way to enjoy the Warzone ecosystem.
After all, Caldera is widely considered to be a complete and utter failure that almost killed Call of Duty: Warzone.
It seems like an age since players were last running around chasing kill records on the likes of Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep, but it won’t be long until they’re doing so again. On the 15th of February, Season Two drops, and along with it comes Ashika Island.

Could this small-form map be everything that is needed to bring millions of players back into the fold? We’d like to think so, for the sake of the platform, but it’ll need to be something special to win overall the spurned players.
