Armored Core 6 Announced At The Game Awards

FromSoftware surprised fans everywhere on Thursday night when it announced Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon. The announcement came via a reveal trailer that you can see at the bottom of this article.

Not much is known about the latest installment in the franchise aside from the fact the game will be coming sometime in 2023.

First released in 1997 for the original PlayStation, the Armored Core series is a third-person mech-based game that focused more on multiplayer action than any of FromSoftware’s other titles. In addition to the gameplay, fans also praised the series’ customization features.

Based on the trailer above, this new game will feature the gameplay fans of the series have come to expect. That said, it’s unknown right now if it will be similar to that of Armored Core 5’s squad-based gameplay, or if it will go in a different direction. A leaked survey earlier this year claims that the game’s setting is a “sci-fi world created by Hidetaka Miyazaki”.

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon will be the first release in the series since 2012’s Armored Core 5 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. It’s being published by Bandai Namco.
