ARK 2 Delayed as ARK: Survival Evolved Remaster is Revealed

It has been revealed that ARK 2, which is set to famously feature Vin Diesel, has been delayed until ‘the end of 2024’. Originally set to launch in 2023, ARK 2 is poised to be an ambitious expansion of the existing ARK ecosystem, which was introduced with Survival Evolved in 2015.

Not only that, but the developer, Studio Wildcard, took to the airwaves to reveal that Survival Evolved will receive a full, next-generation remaster, due to drop in August 2023. It’s a broad undertaking, featuring a staggering amount of content on an all-new platform that is ‘harnessing the power of Unreal Engine 5’.

ARK: Survival Evolved Evolved

It’s not called that – it’s called ARK: Survival Ascended and by all accounts, it’s an extremely tasty remaster. In the statement published by Studio Wildcard, it was revealed that this new imaging of the 2015 title will launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC ‘by the end of August 2023’.

It’ll feature The Island, SotF, and all ‘non-canon’ DLC maps, which will be introduced over time following the game’s launch. Not only that, but Studio Wildcard also revealed a staggering amount of changes, updates, and brand-new introductions coming with Survival Ascended:

  • Unreal Engine 5 Overhaul
  • Cross-platform Multiplayer
  • Cross-platform Modding
  • Survival of the Fittest as a new, fully-support game mode
  • Hundreds of quality-of-life improvements, gameplay changes, and new content add-ons

In June, the final content update will drop for ARK: Survival Evolved, and then after that, it’s nothing but Survival Ascended. There are even plans to release an all-new paid expansion for ARK: Survival Ascended at the end of 2023.

But wait, there’s more

Studio Wildcard also revealed that ARK’s Switch product – the Ultimate Survivor Edition – is undergoing upgrades, as is ARK: Mobile. And not only that, but an animated series based on the game has ‘completed animation and cast recordings.’

On Xbox Series X|S and PC, users can secure the ARK Respawned Bundle, which will cost $49.99 but will feature both ARK: Survival Ascended and ARK 2. On PlayStation 5, users can simply buy ARK: Survival Ascended for $39.99.

So, ARK 2 is delayed until the end of next year, but there’s one hell of a replacement filling the gap. Unfortunately, amidst the announcements, it was also revealed that ARK 2 will no longer be released on Xbox One or PS4 platforms, as the bulk of the delay is being caused by Studio Wildcard’s desire to develop the game using only ‘cutting-edge tech’.
