Capcom is warning Resident Evil 4 players about a “rare but critical” bug in the game that could ruin your game progress.
In a post on Twitter on Friday morning, the game’s official account sent out a statement telling players to be aware of the issue that can. The post says the problem only happens “under very specific circumstances” after obtaining a key item at the beginning of Chapter 12.
“A cutscene will play at the beginning of Chapter 12, after which the player will receive a key item,” Capcom says of the Resident Evil 4 bug. “Please refrain from attacking with the knife until the notification for obtaining this item is displayed in the upper right of the screen.”
The statement continues by saying the item should appear in the “Key Items & Treasures” menu in the attaché case. If it doesn’t show up, players need to reload their saved data from before Chapter 12 to avoid any potential data loss.
Capcom refrains from mentioning the item specifically to avoid spoilers.
Capcom is working on a fix for the bug and will release it in a future update for all platforms. The game is currently available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A free update is releasing on April 7 that will include The Mercenaries gameplay mode. The Mercenaries, for those that don’t remember, has players kill as many enemies as possible before time runs out.
