TheBurntPeanut’s Fortnite Arrival Slammed by Gamers as Pride Month Kicks Off

TheBurntPeanut, a divisive VTuber who masquerades as an animated peanut, is making his way into Fortnite as an all-new Sidekick. His imminent arrival has been judged harshly by critics, mostly because Epic Games has given him legs and arms and made him look weird as all hell, but also because many disagree with his more controversial, historic moments.

Clips have started resurfacing across social media of TheBurntPeanut uttering slurs and promoting scandalous stream titles, all of which have been dredged up right at the start of Pride Month.

TheBurntPeanut Splits the Fortnite Community

TheBurntPeanut is headed to Fortnite as a Sidekick, proving how far this animated streamer has come. In the last year and a half, TheBurntPeanut has exploded in the streaming space, racking up a staggering array of followers, coining some irritatingly persistent phrases, and spawning a cacophony of copycat creators.

Unfortunately, his impending arrival, which is scheduled to take place on June 5, has been heralded by many as a foul move from Epic Games.

In a post on Resetera, users started discussing the ‘slur-using’ Peanut, who has been captured in the past mistakenly uttering the ‘f-word’ on stream while playing Escape from Tarkov.

It’s a pretty old clip, but as recently as three weeks ago, TBP hosted one of his regular streams with other creators dubbed ‘Slur Saturday’ on YouTube. Here’s that full stream, in case you wanted a taste of TheBurntPeanut’s content:

Users on Resetera were quick to lambast Epic Games for including TheBurntPeanut in Fortnite. One wrote, ‘Streamers shouldn’t even be on BP in the first place, real people can f*** up at any moment and then you got a skin you can’t remove from the game.’ Another said, ‘Oh, gross, this was the streamer Bungie gave exclusive stream rights to a while back before Marathon came out. That f-slur one is so blatant. Agh.’

One user explained how mods over on the Fortnite subreddit appear to be ‘covering up’ the hate:

Mods are removing posts about this on the Fortnite Reddit, even with the majority of comments in agreement that he sucks.

Do you think this is a lot of fuss about nothing, or are people right to be concerned about TheBurntPeanut’s arrival in Fortnite? Let us know on the Insider Gaming Discord server.
