Former League of Legends pro-turned Twitch streamer Marc ‘Caedrel’ Lamont has been offered the chance to return to competitive play.
Later this year, the Esports World Cup Foundation is hosting the first-ever Esports Nations Cup, a $20 million tournament where mono-nation teams will compete across multiple esports events.
And popular streamer Marc ‘Caedrel’ Lamont has revealed he has been asked to represent Great Britain at the Esports Nations Cup.
He might want something to look forward to with the LoL co-streaming debate getting toxic.
Caedrel Reveals Team Great Britain Offer
Caedrel retired from pro play back in 2020 and hasn’t competed in the midlane since 2018 after roleswapping to the jungle.
Caedrel revealed Great Britain is making a “serious” team and admitted he was unsure on whether to accept the offer.
“But if I played mid, that basically means I have to go back to being pro, and I don’t know if that’s a good idea or not… I don’t know if I’ve got it in me.”
Caedrel stressed about having to learn mid champions like Aurora and what the grind would do for his health, saying:
“I feel like this would be the only chance I get to ever go back to pro, but I don’t know if I’ve got it in me.
“It might sound like a bad excuse, but my health gets pretty bad when I start grinding League because I get this obsessive personality that I play only. It ain’t good.”
However, Caedrel was also excited by the videos that could come through playing at the Esports Nations Cup:
“I could make cool content out of it, though. I could vlog, [make] path to pro, VOD review all my games on stream, get people to coach me on stream like Caps for lane phase.”
But then confessed his biggest fear: “I’m scared I’ll just run it down. What happens if I do all this build-up for months, and then I just get f***ing gapped?”
Caedrel also stressed that try-harding in NA solo queue while co-streaming Worlds just before the event would be a challenge.
What Could the Great Britain LoL ENC Roster Be?
Currently, there aren’t any British LoL players competing at a high level. None in the LEC, and there weren’t any at EMEA Masters 2026.
Caedrel said he couldn’t leak anything but claims Great Britain has a “tryhard” line-up and says the coach is quite a popular one.
Most of the UK’s talent is currently in coaching, and Team Vitality’s head of coaching development and former head coach James ‘Mac’ MacCormack is reported to be leading the Great Britain LoL team.
It has been four years since a British pro played in the LEC, after toplaner Barney ‘Alphari’ Morris and bot-laner Matthew ‘xMatty’ Coombs competed in 2024.
Alphari is now coaching in the LEC, as is former Misfits Gaming jungler Nubar ‘Maxlore’ Sarafian, and it’s possible that both could come out of retirement.
xMatty could be the bot lane choice, though the more likely choice is Matthew ‘Deadly’ Smith, who has been playing in the very competitive LFL with Skillcamp.
And the support role will likely go to another veteran and former LEC player in Raymond ‘Kasing’ Tsang.
Great Britain could look to the ERLs for emerging talents too, though the nation’s NLC is currently suspended with no tournament organiser.
