Get ready to go to the front lines. Activision has announced that the Call of Duty movie will release on June 30, 2028.
The movie is being written and produced by Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights, Deepwater Horizon) and Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone, Landman), with Berg also acting as director. David Glasser (101 Studios) and Rob Kostich (Activision president) are also working as producers on the film.
It’s a live-action movie co-developed by Activision and Paramount that aims to “thrill its massive global fan base by delivering on the hallmarks of what fans love about the iconic series, while boldly expanding the franchise to entirely new audiences.”
“Being entrusted by Activision and players worldwide to bring this extraordinary storytelling universe to the big screen is both an honor and a responsibility that we don’t take lightly,” Paramount CEO David Ellison said when the film was first announced last September.
“We’re approaching this film with the same disciplined, uncompromising commitment to excellence that guided our work on Top Gun: Maverick, ensuring it meets the exceptionally high standards this franchise and its fans deserve.”
When it releases in 2028, the movie will be first-run in theaters. With Paramount behind it, it’s expected to then find its way to the Paramount+ streaming service.
