Pokémon Champions has only been out for a few days now, but players have already recruited more Pokémon than they know what to do with.
There are various team strategies to try out in the VGC double format, including Trick Room, Sun Charizard, and Rain teams with Mega Meganium.
While Pokémon Champions is somewhat generous with box space, adding a few more slots once players level up, the game limits players to three team slots at a time.
And there is no way to increase this unless players pay out for a membership, which costs $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year and doesn’t include the premium Pokémon Champions battle passes.
After investing lots of time, tickets, and Victory Points into recruiting and training teams, it doesn’t feel good to have to delete teams in order to try a new lineup.
Especially if you want to play both singles and doubles, three teams doesn’t feel like a lot once you’ve recruited or transfered a lot of Pokémon into the game.
Fortunately, there is a clever trick that essentially offers additional team slots for free.
Pokémon Champions Team Slot Trick
One feature Pokémon Champions has is that players can share their line-ups with other players using a code.
These ‘Replica Teams’ can be added directly into your game by posting the code then paying the VP/training ticket cost to train the Pokémon to the correct sets.
This is a cheeky way to save your old line-ups without losing what you created.
Simply generate a rental code for your team, then save that code by taking a picture or writing it down for when you want to use it again.
This will allow you to share and save up to 10 teams at one time.
Then, if you want to play with another line-up you used previously, typing in that code on the Build Teams Using Team IDs’ option of the training menu will replicate that exactly as it was before.
And if you haven’t changed those Mons, you won’t even have to pay VP to train the Pokémon again.
Sharing and Adding Replica Teams in Pokémon Champions

To generate a rental code to create a replica team, follow these steps:
- Open the ‘Train’ menu from the main menu and select the ‘Replica Teams’ option.
- Click ‘Share your Battle Teams’.
- Choose an empty or replace a team you no longer want to use.
- Then select one of your Battle Teams from your inventory and choose the ‘Select this team’ option.
- You’ll be shown a preview of the team, confirm ‘Yes’ that you want to share it.
- Your team will be shared and the Team ID will be displayed on the screen. Make sure to screenshot or save the code somewhere
Meanwhile, to add a replica team to your game, you will need to do the following:
- Open the ‘Train’ menu from the main menu and select the ‘Replica Teams’ option.
- Select ‘Build Teams using Team IDs’.
- Choose which team slot you want to change and put your replicated team in.
- When prompted, enter the Team ID for the Team you want to replicate.
- If the code is right, you’ll be shown the Team you want to replicate – make sure this is the correct before pressing ‘Yes’ to proceed.
- You’ll then be shown which Pokémon need training to replicate the team. Note: You cannot train or replicate any Pokémon you do not currently own.
- If you do want to train your Pokémon, then use the Plus (+) button to train them.
- You’ll then be shown how many Victory Points this will cost, and confirm you want to carry on with the training if you’ve got enough.
